Year 4 have taken on the role of Arctic explorers this week. The week started off with receiving a letter from Jane Glacier (scientist) asking for help with her studies. The children focussed on the environmental issues in the Arctic and produced persuasive posters on how and why to help. We then looked at suitable equipment, then we divided the children into groups of experts. Within their group, they decided what equipment they will need in order to carry out their role. For example, medical team will need medicine, bandages etc. We then had fun setting up tents, testing our endurance and looking at suitable food and clothing. We finished off our week with flying to Norway and exploring the Arctic. We had great fun on the field pretending to spot polar bears and climb glaciers!
