Sports Leaders

At Silverdale Primary Academy we have approximately 50 sports leaders in Year 5 and 6. They will play an active role in encouraging and supporting games and competitions for children on the playground.

Current year 6 sports leaders will be running small competitions during lunchtime to involve as many children. They will be responsible for running and scoring the activity for selective days. They will also be encouraging competition between classes and maintain a leader board. Newly qualified year 5 sports leaders will be attending an enrichment session after school on a weekly basis to consolidate all the skills and qualities of a leader.

At Silverdale Primary Academy, we feel that sports leadership provides training for young people by keeping them engaged, increasing their responsibility and developing their confidence and self-esteem. When they move up to secondary school, children will have the opportunity to complete a nationally recognised sports leadership qualification.
