Welcome to EYFS ideas for Home Learning   w/b 8th February 2021

Hello Squirrels, Rabbits, and Hedgehogs! Welcome to the last week of home learning before the half term break. We hope that you had a lovely weekend! Thank you again for continuing to share your hard work with us – we love to see what you have been doing at home and have been amazed by all the work that has been produced so far! Have a fantastic week; you are all stars!

Please be aware that all the teachers are also teaching class bubbles in school, so they may not be able to respond immediately - but they will get back to you as soon as they can!

Don’t forget the Year group assembly at 10:30am on Tuesday, you can find the link here, but you'll need the password your parent has been sent via email: https://www.silverdaleprimaryacademy.org.uk/school-life/school-assemblies

Here is Mrs Baker with an introduction to this week's home learning

These are a selection of other activities that you might like to do throughout the week

·         There are a few different animals in ‘The Little Red Hen’. What is your favourite animal? It doesn’t have to be one in the story. Could you draw or paint your favourite animal and research some facts about it? What do you already know about your favourite animal? You could even create your own animal? How is their home different to yours?

·         The animals were not very helpful to ‘The Little Red Hen’. It is very important to be kind and helpful. Could you write a list or a sentence of how you could be helpful at home or at school? You could write something that you have already done which was helpful.

·         Can you draw around your hand or hand print with paint and then make it into the character of ‘The Little Red Hen’?

·         Can you cut out different shapes and make a collage of a character from the story. How many different shapes can you use? You could try using 3D shapes too.

·         The bag of wheat was heavy in the story and that is why ‘The Little Red Hen’ asks for help to carry it. Can you find some objects in your house and order them from heaviest to lightest?

·         Can you make some bread using this recipe https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NqkREe0wvkM and write a list of the ingredients and the equipment you used?

·         https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BGb8ZFgNDhc Come Outside; Making bread

·         https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DIOmgdNhcRQ Big Cook, Little Cook

·         Can you retell the story of ‘The Little Red Hen’? You may want to change the characters and the food made at the end.

·         Using the internet, can you research the life cycle of a hen and create a poster to show it? Please add labels or captions if you can. J
