Hello Year 4, we hope you are all keeping well and staying safe. We hope you have all had a relaxing half term with your family and we are looking forward to hearing from you this week when you share your amazing work.

You can use this email to send work to your teacher, ask for advice or just tell them about the wonderful learning you are doing at home!
Please remember that all the teachers are also teaching class bubbles in school, so they may not be able to respond immediately - but they will get back to you!

Learning times are only a guide, you might choose to approach each task at a different time
9.00: Maths - Tackle the next Maths lesson in the Oak National page “Fractions” sequence;
9.45: Take time to complete some work on Doodle Maths/ Doodle Tables as well as practice the Multiplication Timestables check, here is the link: https://www.timestables.co.uk/multiplication-tables-check/
10.15: Read for 20 – 30 minutes. Remember to record your thoughts in our reading journal.
10.45: Take a break. Grab a drink and a snack ready for your English lesson
11.00: English - This week we are researching about the Vikings.
Watch this introduction to the Vikings. Draw a mind map to show what you have found out and write some questions that you would like to answer over the next few weeks as we study The Vikings.
Tuesday: Look at the list of questions you made yesterday, using the internet, research the answers and present them as a poster.
Wednesday: Choose one topic linked to the Vikings (food, weapons, battles, longships etc.) and begin to research in detail. Record your findings in a mind map, making sure that you use pictures to explain your findings.
Thursday and Friday: Over the next two days, you will produce an information sheet explaining your chosen topic. You need to make sure you have the following:
· Did you know? Fact.

Why did they invade Britain? What did you find out? Present your notes as a mind map.
Use this link to find out about how the Vikings fought. Draw and label what a Viking would wear in battle. Click on the different parts of the diagram to find out more information about each thing.
Wednesday: Vikings painted their shields to show who they were, from what Clan they came from and with good luck Runes (symbols) for battle. Design a shield that would represent you. Use Viking colours such as red, yellow, orange and black.

This link to pinterest shows you how to make a viking shield. You don’t have to follow it exactly just use what you have around the house, decorate your shield with your design from yesterday.
14.30: Time to log on and complete some work on Spelling Shed

You should have logins for all three of these sites, and you will be used to using them at school. Try to use them daily to help improve your Maths and Spelling skills. They are all free to use and work on pretty much any online device - including many mobile phones.
