Special Educational Needs
Making sure every pupil is fully engaged and able to grow through a curriculum that suits their needs is of utmost importance at Silverdale.
Our special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) policy has been developed to help every child in our care thrive and grow in a way that suits them.
We ensure that all children, whatever their ability, are provided with an education to help them reach their potential. This will include providing enriching activities for pupils perceived to be gifted and talented in a particular subject area. We believe in early intervention so that ‘catch-up’ programmes can be implemented and barriers to learning identified and removed.
Every effort is made to maintain full integration of all pupils within mainstream classes. We also offer opportunities for children to work in a small group or one-to-one basis where appropriate. Within this, we make every effort to provide appropriate support and guidance for pupils with special educational needs, including emotional and behavioural problems,
Views and insights of parents carers, and outside support agencies on matters of special needs education are actively sought and implemented to support the development of our learners
